As a Community Development Specialist - Early Years, you will play a crucial role in delivering our vital work, supporting families and young children in their own homes and community venues.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a part-time (22 hours per week) Early Years Outreach Worker for our Fox Hollies Children's Centre/Family Hub. You will be responsible for providing accessible, community-based services to families with pre-school children, promoting child development and positive parenting practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide and promote Stay & Play sessions, focusing on child development and encouraging parent-child interaction.
- Deliver key public health messages through group work, ensuring families are aware of essential health and well-being information.
- Offer crèche facilities for under 5s while parents engage in activities/programs, fostering a supportive environment.
- Undertake 2-year development checks, in conjunction with the Health Visiting Service, to monitor children's progress.
- Follow up with families who have not engaged with the service, addressing any concerns or barriers to participation.
- Support the delivery of baby activities tailored to meet the health and development needs of children and families.
- Collect and collate evidence demonstrating outcomes for children, contributing to the evaluation of our services.
- Maintain the suitability, safety, and cleanliness of toys and equipment, replenishing supplies within budget constraints.
- Ensure inclusive practice, signposting parents to specialist support as needed, particularly those with children under 5 with SEND needs.
- Foster effective links with family support services, sharing relevant information as appropriate to ensure holistic care.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with families and young children. As a Community Development Specialist - Early Years, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of child development principles, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
