About the Role

Operations Engineer

The Operations Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of power plants. This position requires a strong understanding of power generation principles, including plant performance, efficiency, and environmental operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control plant operation on a continuous basis, including plant shutdown and start-up, responding to alarms, and maintaining the Daily Operational Log.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance, performing all work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Optimize plant availability and compliance with O&M procedures, work plans, and engineering procedures.
  • Execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required, ensuring the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with customer and external parties for supply and distribution of power and gas.
  • Respond to National Grid and Trader routine and safety instructions.
  • Submit REMIT, EDL, and EDT information to accurately reflect the technical availability and remain in compliance with legislative governance.
  • Support the development and implementation of Siemens Energy Asset Care Programme, including all associated processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Sound practical engineering and technical knowledge, including applying principles, techniques, processes, and procedures to achieve the safe operation and maintenance of the power station.
  • Power Generation/Heavy Industry operational experience.
  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
  • Self-motivated with ability to effectively prioritize workload.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently record and report plant relevant and critical information and statuses.
