This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of power plant operations and maintenance. As an Operations Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plants.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and control plant operations on a continuous basis, including plant shutdown and start-up, responding to alarms, and maintaining the Daily Operational Log.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, performing all work in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Optimize plant availability and performance, adhering to O&M procedures, work plans, and engineering procedures.
- Execute plant shutdown and start-up procedures, ensuring the plant meets its generating requirements while operating safely and efficiently.
- Liaise with customers and external parties for supply and distribution of power and gas.
- Respond to National Grid and Trader routine and safety instructions.
- Submit REMIT, EDL, and EDT information to accurately reflect technical availability and comply with legislative governance.
- Support the development and implementation of Siemens Energy's Asset Care Programme, including processes and procedures for Asset Criticality Assessment, Data Engineering, and CBM Concepts.
- Support Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis processes for site occurrences and incidents.
- Sound practical engineering and technical knowledge, including applying principles, techniques, processes, and procedures to achieve safe operation and maintenance of power plants.
- Power Generation/Heavy Industry operational experience.
- Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices.
- Self-motivated with ability to effectively prioritize workload.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently record and report plant-relevant and critical information and statuses.
- Proficient in the development and adherence to Safe Systems of Work.
