Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and driven Research Nurse or Clinical Trials Practitioner to join our team in the adult cardiovascular surgery & perioperative medicine research group and the Barts Bio Resource based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.

As part of our routine day, you will work in the Pre-Operative Assessment Units, Theatres, Recovery, Critical Care Units, and Surgical wards, closely involved with the staff and patients in these departments and more widely across the Hospital, supporting the Barts Bio Resource programme.

The successful applicant will be committed to evidence-based practice and will be involved in the day-to-day management of research studies and the Barts Bio Resource, including patient recruitment, data collection, research protocol development, data quality assurance, and liaison with clinicians responsible for patient care.

We are looking for an individual with strong organisational and planning skills, an effective communicator, and experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or critical care. Research experience is desirable but not essential, and you will be able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage research studies and the Barts Bio Resource
  • Recruit patients and collect data
  • Develop research protocols and ensure data quality
  • Liaise with clinicians and other healthcare professionals
