Procter and Street is partnering with a well-established Civils company to find a Health & Safety professional with experience in the Highways sector. The ideal candidate will have a wealth of knowledge in H&S Management Systems and be able to advise and improve them.

The Role:

As a subject matter expert, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure a safe working environment for all employees on-site. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Carrying out site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company standards.
  2. Providing competent advice on current legislation, policy, and procedures to key stakeholders.
  3. Advising and coaching managers across the business to promote a Health and Safety culture.
  4. Developing Risk and Method Statements as necessary and in line with legislation for site operations.
  5. Preparing and communicating health and safety reports to key stakeholders.
  6. Attending internal and client meetings to advise on health and safety matters.
  7. Investigating and reporting on incidents, identifying the root cause analysis and course correction where necessary.

The successful candidate will have a NEBOSH Construction/General certificate, working knowledge of ISO standards, and strong technical knowledge of CDM and relevant health and safety legislation. A Civils background is highly desirable, as is excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and regulators.
