Payroll Manager

Our company, Payroll Elite Ltd, is seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our small, friendly payroll team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and processing their payrolls, including weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls.
This is a fixed-term contract role for a duration of 12 months, working Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week with some flexibility. Due to our growing business, there is potential for this role to become permanent in the future.
This is a hybrid working role, with 2 days spent working from home and 3 days in the office. You must also be able to drive to the office.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with clients and enter payroll data from start to finish
- Reconcile payroll to client data, obtain client approval as necessary, and issue payroll reports and payslips
- Review team member work
- Prepare payroll journals
- Reconcile weekly and monthly PAYEF figures
- Prepare BACS files
- Administer Pension Auto-enrolment, including making declarations to The Pensions Regulator
- Produce and distribute pension scheme returns, including notifications of changes in members' status and uploading to pension providers
- Deal effectively with queries from clients, HMRC, and other stakeholders
- Assist with onboarding new clients
- Share knowledge internally and externally
- Client payroll or payroll bureau experience is essential
- Able to calculate tax, NI, pensions, etc. manually
- Good working knowledge of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice, pensions
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Evidence of being a proactive, hands-on team player who is confident in working to changing priorities in a busy department
- A natural organiser with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Flexibility (busy periods will require working longer hours to meet deadlines)
- MS Office (intermediate Excel)
