Deputy Payroll Manager

Payroll Elite Ltd is seeking an experienced Deputy Payroll Manager to join their small, friendly payroll team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, processing their payrolls, and dealing with client queries.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with clients to collect payroll data and ensure accurate processing
- Reconcile payroll data with client records and prepare payroll reports and payslips
- Review team member work and provide feedback for improvement
- Prepare payroll journals and reconcile weekly and monthly PAYEF figures
- Administer Pension Auto-enrolment and produce pension scheme returns
- Deal with client and HMRC queries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with onboarding new clients and share knowledge internally and externally
- Client payroll or payroll bureau experience is essential
- Ability to calculate tax, NI, pensions, and other benefits manually
- Good working knowledge of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice, and pensions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work during busy periods and meet deadlines
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office
This is a fixed-term contract role for 12 months, with potential for permanence. The role involves working Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week, with some flexibility. A hybrid working arrangement of 2 days at home and 3 days in the office is available after an initial training period. You must also be able to drive to the office.
