Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Payroll Manager to join our small, friendly payroll team at Payroll Elite Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, processing their payrolls, and dealing with client queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients and enter payroll data from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Reconcile payroll to client data, obtain client approval as necessary, and issue payroll reports and payslips.
  • Review team member work, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciling weekly and monthly PAYEF figures.
  • Administer Pension Auto-enrolment, making declarations to The Pensions Regulator as required.
  • Produce and distribute pension scheme returns, including notifications of changes in members' status and uploading to pension providers.
  • Deal effectively with queries from clients, HMRC, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Share knowledge internally and externally, contributing to the growth and development of our team.

Requirements:

  • Client Payroll/Payroll Bureau experience is essential.
  • Able to calculate tax, NI, pensions, etc. manually.
  • Good working knowledge of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice, and pensions.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Evidence of being a proactive, hands-on team player who is confident in working to changing priorities in a busy department.
  • A natural organiser with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility, with the ability to work longer hours during busy periods to meet deadlines.
  • MS Office (intermediate Excel) skills.

Working Arrangements:

This is a fixed-term contract role for an initial 12 months, working Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week, with some flexibility. There is potential for the role to become permanent in the future.

This is a hybrid working role, with 2 days working from home and 3 days in the office, after an initial training period. You must also be able to drive to the office.
