Community Support Worker

Blind Veterans UK is seeking a compassionate and experienced Community Support Worker to join our team on a full-time basis for a six-month fixed-term contract.

About the Role

As a Community Support Worker, you will support our members in Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Derbyshire to achieve their goals, while maximising their independence and wellbeing.

You will carry out risk assessments, identify the needs of individuals, and respond to queries and feedback to better co-ordinate services. You will also provide a member-led service, collaboratively planning and overseeing the delivery of specialist interventions, wellbeing programmes, rehabilitation events, and other activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the service co-ordinator and main point of contact for members
  • Demonstrate and issue equipment
  • Support the development and work of our volunteers
  • Support our partnerships for joint working, member support, and future programmes
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and risk management policies

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities to maximise their independence and wellbeing
  • Experience and knowledge of completing comprehensive, holistic assessments
  • Experience delivering remote and face-to-face services
  • The ability to use assessment tools and action plans
  • The ability to identify safeguarding concerns and act in line with policies
  • A relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience
