Head of Patient Safety

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our patient safety efforts and provide expert advice on patient safety. As the Head of Patient Safety, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement within our organisation and ensuring that our systems support improvements in clinical risk.
Key Responsibilities- Lead patient safety efforts and provide expert advice on patient safety
- Develop, review, and implement patient safety and associated policies across the organisation
- Ensure that processes and structures to facilitate patient safety are established and operational within care groups
- Develop methods for monitoring the effectiveness of patient safety activity and ensuring that these systems are implemented across the care groups/organisation through regular audit
- Ensure that the Trust's patient safety activity and monitoring arrangements comply with the requirements of key external agencies such as commissioners and regulators
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital - as well as a number of community healthcare premises. Our hospitals provide a range of general hospital services, including emergency departments, critical/coronary care units, and consultant-led services.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a candidate with a degree in a relevant subject area and continued professional development to Masters level in a relevant clinical specialty. Essential experience includes extensive experience of clinical risk management and assurance in a clinical setting, experience of monitoring clinical effectiveness and reporting variation through formal mechanisms, and experience of carrying out incident investigation techniques and methodologies.
