About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform Engineer to join our team at the Department for Business and Trade. As a key member of our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) directorate, you will play a crucial role in building and operating our cutting-edge developer platform in AWS.

Main Responsibilities

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing reliable, well-tested infrastructure on top of cloud computing systems. You will work closely with development teams to provide them with the tools they need to succeed, including application performance monitoring, exception, log and metrics aggregation, dashboards, and declarative CI/CD pipelines.

You will also be responsible for evangelizing product teams about service-level indicators, objectives, and error budgets, and negotiating them. Additionally, you will help build and scale our global product platform and participate in an on-call rota.

Key Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with cloud experience, preferably with Amazon Web Services, Azure, or Google Cloud. You should have a strong understanding of Linux/Unix fundamentals and TCP/IP networking. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Django, and Terraform is also essential.
