About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic paediatric trainee to develop an interest in Child Safeguarding and work in the new CYP Gender Service in London.

The clinical fellow post begins in March 2025 for 12 months, with OOPE required for this post.

UCLH and GOSH are in a unique position to support a senior clinical fellow in complex safeguarding, providing several services that support and manage children and young people with complex needs.

The post holder will gain invaluable experience in complex safeguarding at UCLH and GOSH, including working with the Gender Identify Service (GIDS), Historical sexual abuse (The Lighthouse), FGM, Genitourinary clinic, and Multiple safeguarding MDTs.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical care to children and young people with safeguarding needs
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
  • Participating in MDT working and complex history taking, formulation, and development of management plans
  • Providing training and education to colleagues on safeguarding and gender issues

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Eligibility for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
  • ST4+ experience in General Paediatrics in the UK
  • MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
  • APLS Provider
  • Level 3 safeguarding training

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Higher degree MSc or related discipline
  • Experience of teaching and presenting
  • Experience of audit activities
  • Clinical expertise in adolescent medicine, neurodiversity, safeguarding
