About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled EHV Cable Project Engineer to join our HVDC Project Engineering team at SSEN Transmission. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving technical excellence, quality of installation, and best practice in our EHV cable projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in HV/EHV cable engineering, with experience in project engineering, design, and installation. You will be responsible for supporting project Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities, reviewing and accepting contractor engineering and design deliverables, and supervising installation and commissioning works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project FEED activities, including options assessment, cable route development, landfall selection, and risk assessment.
  • Review and acceptance of contractor engineering and design deliverables for compliance with Employer's requirements, legislation, and safe practice.
  • Supervise installation and commissioning works for compliance with Employer's requirements and legislation.
  • Support and mentoring of junior engineers, ensuring they are adequately supported throughout their traineeship.
Requirements
  • Minimum BEng/BSc qualification level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in holding key technical positions during development and delivery of HVDC or HVAC transmission cable projects.
  • Work experience and understanding of EPC contracts and CDM regulations, particularly with respect to roles of Supervisor and Principal Designer.
  • Competent awareness and working knowledge of relevant industry standards, specifications, and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and organisational skills.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for giving mentorship/guidance to junior engineers and building technical excellence within the team and wider business.
