Austin Fraser is currently looking for a highly skilled Special Education Needs Liaison Officer to join their team on a 3-month contract. The successful candidate will work closely with the Cheshire East Council, providing support and guidance to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs.

About the Role

This role involves working with schools and other stakeholders to ensure they are aware of policy and legal requirements related to Special Educational Needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and possess a strong understanding of SEN policies and procedures.

The salary for this role is approximately £25 per hour (umbrella company limited), which translates to around £51,200 per annum based on a 20-hour working week. This rate takes into account the location in Ellesmere Port and the requirement to work one day per week remotely from home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and inform on all SEN statutory matters and best practice so that Head Teachers, Fieldworkers, and other managers can operate within the policy and legal requirements.
  • Deal with non-routine enquiries relating to SEN using discretion in forming responses so that advice on the area of work dealt with by the team is consistent.
  • Advise and support parents, young people, and their representatives, so that they can make informed decisions.
  • Undertake casework as appropriate to ensure SEN assessment and monitoring processes are implemented in accordance with statutory regulations and service policies.
  • Support and assist the SEN Management Team in ensuring that statutory functions are completed within timescales and contribute to School Improvement and the Children's and Families Act 2014.

The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret documents in relation to statutory and LA policies and procedures, use Pupil Database System, Microsoft Office, and other IT packages proficiently. They will also be able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and accurately perform tasks.
