About the Role

We are seeking a supportive and engaging individual to join our team as a Group Support Volunteer.

In this role, you will provide emotional support and encouragement to people affected by dementia, helping them to engage in activities and socialise with others in a group setting.

You will welcome and talk to people affected by dementia, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported, and assist with setting up and tidying away after the group.

By joining our team, you will contribute to ensuring people affected by dementia have access to the support and information they need, and can enjoy meaningful activities.

This role is specifically for a walking group in a local park, meeting once a month on a Tuesday morning. You will need to commit 2 hours a month to the group and be able to confidently engage with everyone who attends.

Online training will be provided to the successful candidate, and travel and parking expenses will be reimbursed on submission of an expenses form.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to people affected by dementia
  • Assist with setting up and tidying away after the group
  • Help people affected by dementia to engage in activities and socialise with others
  • Contribute to ensuring people affected by dementia have access to the support and information they need

Requirements

  • Commit 2 hours a month to the group
  • Confidently engage with everyone who attends
  • Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the park
