University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers a unique opportunity to work with our team in the Endoscopy Unit. This is an exciting chance to spend one year, extendable to two years by agreement, consolidating diagnostic endoscopic skills and delivering service GI endoscopy sessions while training to a high level in advanced endoscopic fields.

About University Hospital Southampton

We are a large, busy, academic tertiary referral centre for GI bleeding, cancer, and complex endoscopy for both luminal and hepatobiliary endoscopy. Our services include complex endoscopic resection, ablation techniques, POEM, double balloon endoscopy, ERCP, including laser lithotripsy and spyglass, and/or diagnostic/therapeutic EUS. These opportunities can be tailored to meet the requirements of the successful candidate, along with a flexible start date.

Job Description

The post includes service endoscopy sessions to consolidate experience. Our Endoscopy unit is a renowned training centre, providing opportunities to take part in training junior endoscopists and being a trainee faculty on JAG accredited courses. There will also be opportunities to participate in research and audit.

Requirements
  • You must have full registration with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialty training and full JAG accreditation in gastroscopy, with a minimum of provisional accreditation in colonoscopy.
  • Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Salary and Benefits

The basic salary for this position is £61,825 (MT04) or £70,425 (MT05), depending on experience and skills. Eligibility criteria for appointment to a Nodal Point 5 include having a minimum of six years of specialty training, holding relevant higher specialty exams, and a portfolio of evidence demonstrating meeting the criteria for progression. You will also be entitled to a generous pension scheme and a range of other benefits.
