About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technical Support Specialist to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our Infrastructure Compliance Engineering team, you will play a critical role in providing engineering support to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement pragmatic engineering solutions that meet the objectives of the organization in a cost-effective manner. This will involve working closely with our Maintenance Delivery Manager to ensure all maintenance tasks are clearly briefed, understood, and performed safely and on schedule.

You will also be responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of complex maintenance activities, as well as ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and company procedures and standards. Additionally, you will be required to produce Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for any maintenance or breakdown tasks identified by the Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions that meet organizational objectives
  • Assist with planning and execution of complex maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and company procedures and standards
  • Produce Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for maintenance or breakdown tasks
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Delivery Manager to ensure safe and efficient operation of facilities
Requirements
  • Degree Qualified (Mechanical) or HND in an equivalent discipline
  • Strong communications skills and ability to communicate key information with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate conservative decision making, even in pressure situations
  • Demonstrable knowledge of operational and maintenance requirements
  • Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy, and resilience
  • Ability to interface on a technical level with Design and Capability teams
  • Requirement to become appointed as Safety Supervisor
  • Required to become PMP Manager
  • Requirement to become appointed as Sub Contractor Supervisor
  • Ability to obtain DV level security clearance
