Permanency Planning Coordinator Job Opportunity

We are currently seeking a skilled Permanency Planning Coordinator to join the Children in Care Team at Essex County Council. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary of £36,000-£41,000 per annum.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work with children and young people up to the age of 18 who are in care. Key responsibilities include developing permanency plans, undertaking life-story work, and supporting children to return home to birth families.

Our team operates from a systemic perspective, promoting strengths-based, relationship-based, and trauma-informed practice. We prioritize high-quality supervision and support for our social workers, ensuring they have the tools necessary to excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement permanency plans, including Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) and adoption.
  • Undertake life-story work to enable children to understand the reasons for being in care.
  • Support children to return home to birth families through collaborative working with key stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply social work knowledge using emotional intelligence, analytical skills, and confidence in challenging situations.
