Gastrointestinal Specialist

About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our team at the London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.

Main responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing acute gastroenterology and general level II hepatology, as well as skilled in clinical gastroenterology and endoscopic investigations.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• 
  
• MRCP
  
• Certification of Completion of Specialist Training
  
• Accreditation in general internal medicine and gastroenterology
  

Desirable criteria

• 
  
• NHS experience within the last 3 years
  
• Interest in the development of out-patient management of liver disease
  
• General ERCP skills and or delivery
  
• Experience in service Redesign
  

Teaching and management

The successful candidate will also be expected to have experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff, as well as competent in medical audit and an understanding of the Health Service agenda for the next 10 years and corporate governance.

Research and publications

A good track record of publications in gastroenterology / hepatology or a related field is essential. Evidence of active research with either record of winning grants or publishing peer reviewed articles as well as chapters and papers is desirable.

Language and personal skills

The successful candidate must be able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements and have good organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
