We are a leading international charity based in London, seeking a highly skilled Database Officer to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to support our Data and Appeals Manager in maintaining and managing our Raiser's Edge database. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our data, providing training and advice to employees on database access and usage, and reconciling and processing donations from various sources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Management: Assist in the maintenance and management of Raiser's Edge database, conducting regular audits on its contents and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and advice to employees on correct database access and usage, including demonstrating how to access supporter data from an off-site location.
  • Donation Processing: Work with the Finance Team to reconcile and process donations from various sources, including BACS donations, Standing order BACS payments, Stripe credit card donations, JustGiving, and CAF.
  • Routine Processes: Run routine processes according to a set schedule, including direct debit claims and gift aid claims, maintaining valid gift aid declaration certificates and direct debit mandates in accordance with charity law and organisational policy.
  • Data Entry: Undertake routine data entry, ensuring that information is accurately entered in the organisation's CRM (NXT Raiser's Edge).
  • Data Analysis: Run simple queries and extract data on request from NXT Raiser's Edge for planned warm appeals.
  • Database Integrity: Undertake data checks to maintain database integrity, identifying and merging duplicate records, updating mail attributes, and fulfilling GDPR requirements according to donor preferences.
  • General Support: Provide general departmental support, including answering phones and responding to department communications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of fundraising data regulations.
Requirements
  • CRM Skills: Excellent skills in CRM software, preferably Raiser's Edge.
  • Microsoft Office: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Data Analysis: Strong working knowledge of using MS Excel formulae and functions, such as Lookups, Conditional Formatting, Pivot Tables, removal of duplicates, and calculus.
  • Query Building: Experience running and building queries to obtain targeted data selections, including exporting relevant data for direct mail appeals and reports.
  • Data Manipulation: Experience of working with large data sets, including undertaking data manipulation, importing of data, cleaning, and interrogating data.
  • Data Importing: Experience of importing clean data into Raiser's Edge is highly desirable.
  • Data Entry: Proficient in data entry processes with a strong understanding of best practice, including GDPR and data confidentiality.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize daily tasks.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly when providing assistance to employees or running and preparing reports.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail to ensure that data is correctly entered and verified.
