Job Title: Female Support Worker

We are seeking a patient, warm, and caring Female Support Worker to join our team and work with a delightful lady with cerebral palsy and a learning disability in her own home in the Crantock, Cornwall area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing personal and domestic care, moving and handling, including hoisting, carrying out therapy programs, accessing therapeutic activities, and social and leisure outings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration cognitive problems
  • Liaise with and support the family as required
  • Assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained
  • Support the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events
  • Follow the service user plan as documented for the client
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Providing distance administration support to progress any ongoing input, Not limited to, contacting third parties, arranging appointments, following up on outstanding actions/tasks
  • Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the case manager as appropriate

Requirements:

  • An NVQ (or equivalent) in care and recent training would be an advantage
  • Some experience of caring for people with physical and/or learning disabilities
  • A positive interest in active rehabilitation and a desire to enable this person to reach her full potential
  • Female (Due to the occupational nature of the role. This post is compliant with Paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 relating to Occupational Requirements.)
  • A driver with a full UK driving licence and be confident to drive the client's car
  • Great communication skills especially with the client, her family, and other professionals involved
  • A DBS on the update service or will complete an enhanced DBS if successful. Initial DBS check paid for by us

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing others and knowledge of organising staff rotas will be required
  • Current training in the following areas: Equality, diversity, and inclusion, Health and safety at work, Control of substances hazardous to health, Fire safety awareness, Infection control, Food hygiene, Manual handling, First aid / basic life support including CPR, Safeguarding vulnerable adults, Safeguarding vulnerable children, Conflict management, and Lone working
