Active Care Group - Job Opportunity

We are seeking a patient, warm, caring, and reliable Female Support Worker to work with a delightful lady with cerebral palsy and a learning disability in her own home in Cornwall.

The role involves personal and domestic care, moving and handling, including hoisting, carrying out therapy programs, accessing therapeutic activities, and social and leisure outings.

Applicants are advised that there are dogs in the house.

Previous experience and a full driving license are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration cognitive problems.
  • Liaise with and support the family as required.
  • Assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained.
  • Support the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events.
  • Follow the service user plan as documented for the client.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Provide distance administration support to progress any ongoing input, not limited to, contacting third parties, arranging appointments, following up on outstanding actions/tasks.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the case manager as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • An NVQ (or equivalent) in care and recent training would be an advantage.
  • Experience of caring for people with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • A positive interest in active rehabilitation and a desire to enable this person to reach their full potential.
  • Female (due to the occupational nature of the role).
  • A driver with a full UK driving license and be confident to drive the client's car.
  • Great communication skills, especially with the client, their family, and other professionals involved.
  • A DBS on the update service or will complete an enhanced DBS if successful.

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing others and knowledge of organizing staff rotas.
  • Current training in equality, diversity, and inclusion, health and safety at work, control of substances hazardous to health, fire safety awareness, infection control, food hygiene, manual handling, first aid/basic life support including CPR, safeguarding vulnerable adults, safeguarding vulnerable children, conflict management, and lone working.
