Job Title: Secondary SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant

A reputable secondary SEMH provision in Wigan is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, where you will work closely with the pupil, their teachers, and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs, including challenging behaviour
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the pupil, promoting their emotional well-being and academic progress
  • Employ effective behaviour management techniques to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to plan and deliver targeted interventions
  • Contribute to the development of the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Requirements:
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behavioural management skills and knowledge of safeguarding protocols
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
