Role Description

Location: Exeter, Devon

Time Commitment: Flexible

The Volunteer Befriender will play a vital role in providing companionship to individuals at our supported living service in Exeter by spending quality time with them, visiting them in their homes, and engaging in activities they enjoy. These may include chatting over a cup of tea, reading books, playing board games, and more.

Key Skills Required

  • To be kind, empathetic, and friendly
  • To have a good sense of humour and enjoy chatting
  • To be punctual and reliable
  • To be able to handle confidential information in line with our data protection procedures

Please note that applicants must be over the age of 18 to apply for this role. Upon receipt of your application, a member of our Volunteering Team will contact you for an informal chat and to explain the next steps. To ensure the safety of the individuals we support, we will require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training specific to the role.
