Job Overview

The Ministry of Justice seeks a highly skilled Forensic Psychology Specialist to lead the development and implementation of mental health services in youth custody facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating trainee placements, conducting case reviews, and providing authoritative advice on next steps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive case reviews to inform release decisions and provide expert opinion to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Design and deliver complex therapeutic programs, leading and supervising group sessions to promote prisoner rehabilitation.
  • Develop strategies to support prisoners' mental health needs, providing consultancy expertise to colleagues and ensuring staff development through training and mentoring.
  • Manage professional supervision of trainee forensic psychology staff, contributing to research initiatives and acting as a professional witness when required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold BPS/HCPC Counselling Psychologist registration, be Chartered with the British Psychological Society, and possess excellent spoken and written English skills. Additionally, they must be able to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Security Check.
