Government Policy Strategist
NHS pay costs over £100 billion annually, making it a significant portion of NHS budgets. As a key member of the HM Treasury team, you will play a crucial role in shaping policy decisions that impact the UK's public sector. Your expertise will be invaluable in driving forward a long-term vision to make health and care services productive and sustainable.
About the Role
This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information to non-expert audiences. You will work closely with the Department for Health and Social Care to consider NHS workforce needs and develop policies that support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. Key accountabilities may include ensuring the Treasury strategy for NHS aligns with the broader public sector pay strategy, supporting NHS pension policy, and working flexibly on other priority policy areas as needed.
About You
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to draw out key messages from complex information and make recommendations to others. Strong technical knowledge of public sector finance and policy-making processes is essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. With your expertise, you will contribute significantly to the development of policies that drive positive change in the public sector.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of approximately £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide flexible working patterns, including part-time, job-share, and condensed hours options. Our generous parental and adoption leave packages, access to a Defined Benefit pension scheme, and cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme demonstrate our commitment to supporting the well-being of our employees.
