Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Harris Academy Sutton. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our students.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with specific needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Assisting in the development of resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies to meet the needs of our students
  • Evaluating student progress through agreed assessment activities
  • Providing regular feedback to teachers on student achievement, progress, and needs
  • Leading small group sessions and interventions as required
  • Supporting students' personal needs where necessary
  • Contributing to creating a purposeful and supportive learning environment
  • Undertaking structured learning activities and teaching programmes as agreed

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviors
  • Awareness of social issues affecting students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Managing and being responsible for own workload
