Assembly and Test Technician – Transducer Products

As an Assembly and Test Technician – Transducer Products, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of our transducers meet the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test transducers using the latest relevant assembly processes and drawings, ensuring compliance with quality and performance standards.
- Correctly assemble and test associated test load strings and test fixtures and jigs.
- Diagnose faults in units under test and implement corrective actions.
- Inspect and pack customer orders in accordance with current procedures.
- Follow fault reporting procedures, including NCRs, ESRs, MSWs, and other quality tools.
- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to safety protocols, including housekeeping and the use of PPE.
- Be aware of risk assessments, safety notice boards, and COSHH regulations, and take appropriate action to mitigate hazards.
- Ensure safe use of hand tools, fixtures, power tools, and material handling equipment.
- Apply administrative procedures associated with AGILE and IFS, including assembly drawings, quality reporting, and product flow management.
- Participate in activities contributing to improved quality and reduced costs.
- Occasionally visit customer sites to assist with installation and commissioning of systems.
Key Competencies:
- Detailed knowledge of hand tools and tool selection.
- Quality focus and attention to detail for small assemblies, including strain gauge application.
- Electronic testing and fault diagnosis to component level.
- Ability to read and understand engineering, assembly, and manufacturing drawings.
- Computer literacy, including data entry in MS Excel and MS Word, and email usage.
- Ability to handle, move, and distribute awkward and/or heavy items, with training on lifting equipment.
- Experience with electro-mechanical and/or electronic assemblies, including computers and electrical/electronic consumer goods.
Qualifications:
- Full relevant training will be provided. GCSE or equivalent level Mathematics, Science, and Craft-based subjects, such as Woodwork, Metalwork, Design, and Technology, are advantageous but not prescriptive.
Key Experiences:
- Proven experience with assembly and disassembly of electro-mechanical componentry and/or fine wiring/soldering skills.
- Proven experience with basic test equipment from the above industries, including fault diagnosis to module level and initiatives for product improvement.
- Desirable experience from military, avionics, and/or electronics industries.
Working Conditions:
- Normal factory environment with some exposure to the open air, with occasional physical discomfort due to temperature change, noise, and weather conditions.
- Working days Monday to Friday inclusive.
