Job Purpose

To assist the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service in managing the Public Mortuary based in London.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Carry out casework, and assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases, including keeping records and administrative arrangements.

Undertake casework of a high profile or complicated nature as necessary and assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases.

Maintain a comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting of performance against targets.

Be able to work out of hours.

After a post-mortem, the post holder will help to reconstruct and clean the body ready for storage or release to an undertaker.

Requirements

You will need to demonstrate the following skills:

1. Experience of continuing professional development within the Mortuary Service.

2. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

3. Well organised, with good administrative and computer skills.

4. The post holder will work a 35 hour week and will participate in the out of hour's rota.

In addition, you will need to have the following qualification:

Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or equivalent).
