The Product Support Engineer (PSE) plays a critical role in ensuring that Wabtec UK products and services meet our customers' expectations throughout their life cycle. This includes conducting support activities at both Wabtec UK sites and customer locations, ensuring that our services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and consistent manner by trained and competent team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out modification programs on Company products as defined by Wabtec UK & Sisco's, including initial preparation of work and day-to-day liaison with customers.
- Work with the Project Management team to deliver projects within budget and on time.
- Ensure that all materials, parts, drawings, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment are fit for purpose and available prior to commencement of a job.
- Use the company competency management system to plan assessments and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Undertake training activities to support development of the team and deliver commercial opportunities.
- Work with Operations Manager to implement changes to the Field Service Competency Management system as required.
Quality, Health & Safety:
- Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and other policies and procedures.
- Participate in Health & Safety management processes and use IT systems for reporting.
- Investigate and report on failed or defective components in a timely manner.
- Undertake briefings and training as required following quality escapes or identification of best practice.
Customer:
- Identify revenue opportunities and report to the Operations Manager, especially regarding customer training opportunities.
- Deal with customer complaints and escalate as necessary.
- Maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers to maintain the company's reputation as a world-class supplier.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improvement during delivery of Service Support work and raise them to the Operations Manager.
- Implement and participate in 5S methodology during on- and off-site operations.
- Actively participate in Wabtec group deployment of improvement initiatives.
