The Henry Smith Charity is a leading UK grant maker, committed to addressing social exclusion and supporting individuals and families in adversity.

We are seeking an experienced Programme Director to lead our Parenting and Early Years team, focusing on improving outcomes for families and young children.

This role offers a unique opportunity to drive forward our 2025 strategy, working collaboratively with grantees, partners, and funders to achieve maximum impact.

As Programme Director, you will lead a dedicated team and manage an annual budget. You will take an externally focused approach, building partnerships and engaging with stakeholders across the sector, including policymakers, researchers, and delivery organisations.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our grants are impactful, fair, and aligned with our strategic goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of professionals to deliver effective programmes
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Fostering collaboration and partnership working
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for growth and development

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Significant experience in the Parenting and Early Years sector
  • A strong understanding of effective interventions and current policy landscape
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and complex projects
  • A track record of fostering partnerships and driving collaboration with external stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and passion for driving positive change

Estimated salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
