Job Overview:

Huon Aquaculture is seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join their Fish Health team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in delivering operational, technical, and administrative support for fish health related tasks and projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and reviewing Huon's Veterinary Health Plan, which covers fish health, biosecurity, and animal welfare.

  • You will assist in developing and executing fish health assessments, disease investigations, and veterinary health certificates.
  • Sampling and investigation duties at hatchery and marine sites are also part of this role.
  • Compliance with animal welfare standards and reporting non-compliance are essential aspects of this job.
  • Collaboration with leadership to implement Huon's Veterinary Health Plan and supporting training and reporting are critical responsibilities.
About You:

To succeed in this role, you must have strong knowledge of fish biology, water chemistry, and production cycles in both marine and freshwater environments.

Coxswain certification (or equivalent) and/or practical experience in boat operations would be highly valued.

You should possess a proven track record in data collection, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to interpret and present findings clearly to support decision-making and project outcomes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams) is also necessary.
