About the Role

The Senior Technical Officer will play a critical role in providing technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team at Network Rail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with established procedures, method statements, and plans.

2. Adhere to company policies and procedures, promoting a culture of compliance and excellence.

3. Oversee the quality of work delivered, ensuring assets meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

4. Develop and manage work and resource specifications, method statements, and plans to optimize efficiency and productivity.

5. Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

6. Design, install, test, and commission equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.

7. Supervise and undertake technical tasks, surveys, and design work, leveraging expertise to drive innovation and improvement.

8. Conduct technical inspections, tests, investigations, and analysis of technical data to inform decision-making and drive business outcomes.

9. Prioritize work arising and develop work plans for the team, ensuring effective resource allocation and utilization.

10. Prepare specifications and requisition materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

11. Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment, maintaining accuracy and precision.

12. Manage information to update systems, databases, and records, ensuring data integrity and compliance.

13. Contribute to personal and professional development, as well as that of team members, through coaching, mentoring, and training.

Requirements and Qualifications

1. Proven knowledge of technical support activities and techniques, with a focus on electrification and plant maintenance.

2. Experience in construction management processes, systems, and standards, with a strong understanding of design requirements and techniques.

3. Ability to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviors within the team, fostering a culture of safety and well-being.

4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to coach, influence, and develop others.

5. Hold and retain relevant competencies, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

6. Ideally hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering or leadership subject.

7. Ability and willingness to drive vehicles as required by business need.
