Job Title: Sports and Education Support Specialist

Job Summary: Empowering Learning is seeking a Sports and Education Support Specialist to work with a school in the Littleover area. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour, leading sports sessions and providing 1:1 support.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour
  • Leading sports sessions at break and lunchtimes
  • Providing 1:1 support to children in class
  • Using sports as a way to mentor children
  • De-escalating situations where children have shown extreme behaviours
  • Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
  • Assisting the class teacher with the set up of lessons
  • Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO around progress of the pupils

Requirements:

  • Holds a TA qualification or relevant degree
  • Holds at least one sports based qualification
  • Has had either TeamTeach training or MAPA Training (Desirable not essential)
  • Previously supported children with challenging behaviours
  • Has an understanding of supporting SEN pupils
  • Can inspire pupils to reach their full potential
