About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Ophthalmology team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with ophthalmic conditions, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate and provide skilled nursing care to patients with ophthalmic conditions, in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in the continued development of nursing, including the supervision, teaching, and development of junior nurses and support staff.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for an allocated patient group, considering individual needs and using prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate holistic care delivery for all Trust patients.
  • Provide leadership to junior staff and manage the ward/unit in the absence of the ward manager.

Person Specification

We are looking for a nurse with:

  • Degree or Diploma Level Education as a Registered Nurse (RN Child, RNLD, or RSCN)
  • Willingness to undertake Leadership/Management training
  • Teaching, Mentoring, and Assessors qualification
  • Current registration with the NMC
  • Relevant post-registration qualification as required for the specialty

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Willingness to undertake study at degree level
  • Relevant Post-Basic registration Course Leadership and Management training
