At Apex City of London Hotel, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and creating a warm welcome for our guests. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel, maintaining all guest facilities, hotel plant, and systems in a safe and immaculate condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Painting and Surface Preparation: Apply paint to walls and woodwork, ensuring a high-quality finish.
- Bathroom Maintenance: Replace tiles, grouting, and sealant, repair fixtures and fittings, and maintain bathroom facilities to the highest standards.
- Plumbing: Perform minor pipework repairs, replace taps, fittings, and sanitaryware, unblock drains, and service thermostatic mixing valves.
- Air Conditioning and Refrigeration: Maintain air conditioning units, clean air filters, coils, and strainers, and perform basic refrigeration maintenance.
- Electrical: Perform minor electrical works, replace damaged sockets, switches, and light fittings, reset trippages, and repair small appliances.
- Carpentry and Joinery: Adjust doors, replace door closures, and perform minor furniture repairs.
- Plant Maintenance: Replace air handling unit filters, clean strainers, intake, and exhaust systems, and perform operational checks on plant equipment.
- Periodic Safety Checks: Inspect and test fire doors, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and fire safety interfaces.
- Security: Program door locks, replace batteries, and open bedroom safes.
- General Maintenance: Perform carpet repairs, ceiling tile replacement, and respond to guest requests for assistance.
Requirements
- A trade-based qualification, skill, or expertise.
- Previous experience in delivering a broad range of general property maintenance activities to expert handyperson level.
- A technical mindset and ability to learn and retain new skills.
- A flexible approach to a wide range of maintenance tasks with a desire and ability to deliver them to a high standard.
- A high degree of Health & Safety awareness, being familiar with Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Ability and willingness to diligently perform works and complete associated maintenance records via a handheld device.
- Sound communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
- Ability to commute daily to our hotel with availability to work any 5 days from 7 on a rotational basis.
- Willingness to provide maintenance cover outside of normal working hours on a rotational basis.
