About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Policy Officer to join our Government Affairs team at the National Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Trust's policy influence and ensuring that our voice is heard in government decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with government policy makers and stakeholders to advance the Trust's policy agenda.
  • Identify and advise on potential risks and opportunities arising from government policies and develop strategies to mitigate or capitalize on them.
  • Work closely with National Trust staff and external partners to develop and implement effective policy influence strategies.
  • Develop and communicate the Trust's views on public policy issues, including planning, infrastructure, and the built environment.
Requirements
  • Experience of working on public policy issues and a good understanding of the UK political system and government policy-making processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • General awareness of current UK public policy issues, particularly in relation to local planning and infrastructure.
