About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Policy Officer to join our Government Affairs team at the National Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Trust's influence and policy impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with government policy makers to advance the Trust's agenda.
  • Identify and advise on potential risks and opportunities created by government policies, working with Trust staff and external partners to address them.
  • Develop the Trust's views on public policy, with a focus on planning, infrastructure, and the built environment.
  • Communicate complex information to a range of audiences, including ministers, officials, and sector partners.
Requirements
  • Experience of working on public policy issues, with a good understanding of the UK political system and government policy-making processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and concise content.
  • General awareness of current UK public policy relating to local planning and infrastructure.
