Location: Ipswich
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Early Years Kitchen Assistant. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, supporting the Chef in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for our children, and promoting healthy eating habits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety, adhering to internal and external regulations.
- Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, minimizing food waste and ensuring all dietary requirements are met.
- In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, ensuring all meals are prepared and served to a high standard.
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health and safety, and safeguarding.
- Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy, and safe environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring others to make healthy food choices.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
