Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Production Development Engineer to join our team. As a Production Development Engineer, you will be responsible for realizing the design and engineering requirements of Interior Surface Parts into production, delivering optimum performance in terms of quality, cost, legal requirements, and volume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate New Products and Features: Assess the feasibility of new products, bespoke features, and change requests to ensure they meet our quality, cost, and legal requirements.
- Calculate Production Costs: Calculate production costs, product investment, structure investment, headcount, launch costs, and fixed costs based on planning assumptions.
- Assess Manufacturing Feasibility: Evaluate the feasibility of manufacturing new products and features, providing suggestions to ensure incorporation into the design concept.
- Develop Detailed Timing Plans: Develop detailed timing plans, processes, and costs for the production of new products and features.
- Ensure Legal Requirements: Ensure that all legal requirements are met and recorded, creating a Design Verification Plan (DVP) and producing and supplying parts for testing.
- Manage Equipment and Tooling: Manage the suppliers, coordinate the installation and commissioning of new machines and tooling, and detail equipment specifications and justification.
- Manage Pre-Series Builds: Manage pre-series builds as per the build plan to bring new features and models into series production, creating a training matrix and training associates.
- Validate Production Processes: Validate production or bespoke processes through capability studies, defining key characteristics for fit, form, and function, and interpreting results to incorporate improvements and changes into the process.
- Ensure Process Efficiency: Ensure that process times are incorporated into headcount planning, evaluating efficiency savings to continuously improve costs and achieve targets.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant automotive experience in a planning, production engineering, or project role, ideally with DVP exposure.
