Senior Accountant Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Financial Management (Operational) team at Lancashire County Council.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, providing financial management and leadership to our organization. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing expert financial advice and guidance to senior managers and Members, as well as leading and coordinating the savings programme across the Authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing financial management and leadership to the Financial Management (Operational) team
  • Developing and managing the finance graduate scheme, mentoring the graduates, and providing guidance and training to budget holders across the Council
  • Leading and coordinating the savings programme across the Authority, including analysing large amounts of internal and external data
  • Providing expert financial advice and guidance to senior managers and Members
  • Building strong, lasting working relationships with senior colleagues and team members
Requirements
  • Proven experience in financial management and leadership, preferably in a local government setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with senior colleagues and team members
  • Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide expert advice and guidance
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
