Senior Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Financial Management (Operational) team at Lancashire County Council.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial management and analysis to support the council's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement financial plans and budgets to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior managers and members to provide financial advice and guidance.
  • Lead and coordinate the savings programme across the authority to achieve financial targets.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in financial management and analysis in a local government setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with senior managers and members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve financial objectives.
  • Knowledge of local government funding and the complexities within it.
