Technical Design Role

Earn a salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per year in Edinburgh, Scotland as a Technical Designer at Build a Rocket Boy.

About the Job

We are looking for a skilled Technical Designer to support the development team with technical and creative input. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of technical scripting languages, previous experience designing and implementing complex gameplay systems, and a keen eye for detail.

Main Responsibilities
  • Implement missions, systems, and activities using code-based scripting tools.
  • Work closely with other departments to request and integrate required assets.
  • Tune and balance missions and game features.
  • Collaborate with engineering to define and implement improvements to tools and workflows.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for various features and gameplay systems you develop.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of a technical scripting language such as Lua or C#.
  • Previous experience designing and implementing complex gameplay systems.
  • A keen eye for detail and a drive to create polished, high-quality work.
  • Passion for videogames and a broad grasp of game types and systems.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Experience with visual scripting tools would be an advantage.
