Job Title: Research Associate: Modelling Multi-hazard Cascades in the Himalaya

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for modelling multi-hazard cascades in the Himalaya as part of an interdisciplinary project focusing on dynamic risk generated by sediment cascades from landslides, debris flows, and river flooding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run mathematical models and interpret the outputs
  • Analyse spatial data
  • Develop an up-to-date understanding of hazard and risk
  • Communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing
  • Organise and manage projects effectively

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
