Job Title: Deputy Head Grounds Person

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Grounds Person to assist the Head Grounds Person in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the stadium professional playing pitch at CBS Arena, the home of Coventry City Football Club.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Grounds Person in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the professional pitch and related work.
  • Uphold ground standards by effectively managing all grounds activities to consistently achieve recognized standards and availability for the Club and stadium.
  • Ensure health and safety by managing and checking facilities, plant, buildings, and equipment to ensure safe working practices and compliance to health and safety standards.
  • Manage equipment, including maintenance, servicing, and storage.
  • Assist in the renovation of a hybrid and natural pitch using equipment associated with this process.
  • Operate machinery for maintenance and renovation of grassed areas.
  • Gather and record information to develop trend data and analyze past usage.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 or above in green keeping and groundsman ship or equivalent.
  • Spraying certificates PA1, 2, and 6 (desirable).
  • Experience in all aspects of grounds maintenance, including hybrid, artificial surfaces, and a working knowledge of horticulture and gardens.
  • Experience in the use of turf care equipment.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Experience in the management of pitch lighting systems.
  • Competent management and maintenance of irrigation systems.
  • Experience of managing teams of operatives, planning, and organizing workloads, allocating duties, and monitoring performance.
  • Good mechanical knowledge of equipment and ability to assist with routine maintenance.
  • Ability to use a wide range of turf care equipment.
