About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer to support individuals living with dementia in their daily activities and enable them to pursue their interests.

As a Side by Side volunteer with the Alzheimer's Society, you will be matched with a person living with dementia and work together to identify activities and hobbies that bring them joy.

Some examples of activities you might do together include:

  • Attending local clubs or events
  • Visiting the library or museum
  • Going for walks or participating in outdoor activities
  • Engaging in hobbies such as painting, gardening, or cooking

As a volunteer, you will be required to commit to an hour of time per week for a minimum of six months. This will provide a stable and consistent support system for the individual living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the individual living with dementia in their daily activities and enable them to pursue their interests
  • Work together to identify and plan activities and hobbies
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to the individual living with dementia

Requirements

  • Commit to an hour of time per week for a minimum of six months
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
