Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a thriving primary school in Stevenage.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students in small groups or one-to-one, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Assisting with lesson planning and delivery, activities, and resources tailored to individual needs
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and achievements, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Promoting positive behaviour and social interaction among students, intervening when necessary to manage challenging behaviour
  • Maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Undertaking administrative tasks and other duties as required
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably in a school setting
  • Good knowledge of the national curriculum and teaching strategies for students with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Positive, empathetic, and patient attitude, ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development
  • Able to commute to Stevenage
