About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at North Hertfordshire College. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEND, including those with Neurodiversity and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, including the use of assistive technology.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the setting and monitoring of individual targets.
  • Support students with study skills, pastoral needs, and community access.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and medication administration for students with complex support needs.
  • Support students in engaging with work experience opportunities.
Requirements
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people with SEND.
  • Commitment to improving opportunities for young people with SEND.
  • Proven communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • High levels of personal integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt and develop creative methods to engage young people.
  • Self-motivation and proactive approach to utilizing personal initiative.
  • Understanding of health and safety, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ability to adopt and use IT systems effectively.
