Supporting Learning in Secondary Schools

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a fantastic special needs provision that caters for students with autism and high-functioning ADHD of secondary school age.
This role is perfect for someone that has a real passion about making a difference to the lives of young people, especially those with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities- Work alongside the classroom teacher to support learning in the classroom
- Develop and implement core subject interventions to help support gaps in knowledge
- Support students on a 1:1 basis where applicable
- Lead the class for PPA cover and in the absence of the class teacher, deliver pre-planned lessons
- Assist in managing behaviour effectively
- Create a safe and enjoyable learning environment
- Promote the safeguarding and welfare of all students
- Contribute to the overall ethos of the school
- HLTA qualified or equivalent qualifications
- Previous experience working in secondary education or above
- Previous experience working with students with additional needs
- Proactive, resilient and flexible
- Good sense of humour and loves working as part of a team
- Able to engage students in their learning and able to utilise a range of strategies to do so
