Job Summary

This is a senior leadership role within the Estates department at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the trust's estates and facilities, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and effective in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the trust's estates and facilities, including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of estates and facilities management.
  • Lead a team of estates and facilities staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are equipped to deliver high-quality services.
  • Work closely with other departments, including clinical teams, to ensure that estates and facilities are aligned with the trust's strategic objectives.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure that estates and facilities are maintained and improved in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including health and safety, environmental, and accessibility requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that estates and facilities are managed in a way that supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders, including clinical teams, patients, and visitors, on estates and facilities-related matters.

Person Specification
  • Extensive experience in estates and facilities management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of estates and facilities management.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including health and safety, environmental, and accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources to ensure that estates and facilities are maintained and improved in a cost-effective manner.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
